Fish farming project
As part of a self-help and development program, Lazarus Europe intends to establish a fish farm in Nepal.
To this end, in June 2024, the expert team from the Aquaculture Department at Pukyong National University in Korea and the Korea Future Aquaculture Technology Research Institute were commissioned to conduct a comprehensive market analysis.
The positive results of this analysis were submitted to the foundation in September 2024.
In addition, both specialist institutions have declared their willingness to support the leprosy communities in Nepal on a voluntary basis.
According to the marketing plan presented in September 2024, the Biratnagar region is a particularly suitable location due to its warm climate and abundant water supply. Its close proximity to India also opens up additional sales and marketing opportunities.
Lazarus Europe plans to establish a pilot fish farm in cooperation with the Nepal National Fish Research Institute, the Future Aquaculture Research Institute, and the team of professors at Pukyong National University.
Discussions are currently being held with locally established and trustworthy partner organizations to ensure sustainable and successful implementation. Once all the necessary arrangements have been made, Lazarus Europe plans to send qualified specialists to Nepal to oversee the construction and technical support of the project on site.
During a personal meeting, the director of the Nepal National Fish Research Institute expressed his willingness to actively support the project together with his team. This includes, among other things, providing training and technical advice in all phases of the project.
Lazarus Europe is convinced that this project will make a significant contribution to improving the living conditions of the communities involved and at the same time lay the foundation for long-term, sustainable development cooperation.
